Calm, Comfortable Dental Care – Tailored for You
We understand that visiting the dentist can be a source of anxiety for many. That’s why we offer sedation options designed to help you feel completely at ease. Whether you’re nervous about a routine procedure or facing a more complex treatment, our gentle approach to sedation can make all the difference. For mild, moderate or severe anxiety, conscious sedation creates a deep sense of calm and relaxation while keeping you awake and responsive, allowing you to feel peaceful and stress-free throughout your visit.
What is sedation?
Conscious sedation is a safe technique that helps you feel relaxed and comfortable during dental
treatment while remaining awake and able to communicate with your dentist.
Who can have sedation?
Conscious sedation is suitable for anyone in relatively good health aged 18 and over. Everyone is
different, so we will always assess whether sedation is suitable and safe for you on an individual
basis.
What happens?
The first appointment is a checkup where you can meet the team and discuss your treatment
options. Your second appointment is an assessment. We’ll talk through your medical history, complete
some checks and confirm your treatment plan. This allows us to make sure
sedation is suitable for you and to answer any questions.
On the day of your treatment, a small cannula is gently placed into a vein, usually in your hand or
arm. Medication is then given gradually through the cannula to help you feel calm and relaxed. You will remain awake and able to communicate with your dental team, but you should feel much
more at ease. You should feel drowsy, less aware of the treatment and remember very little about
the procedure afterwards.
The effects of the sedation gradually wear off, but you may feel sleepy or less alert for several hours afterwards. For this reason, you’ll need an adult to accompany you home and rest for the
remainder of the day.
How much is it?
It depends on the length of your sedation session and how many sessions are needed to complete
your treatment. We aim to complete as much as possible in each session to minimise the number
of sessions you need. Short sessions start at £235.00. Longer sessions start at £300.00.
How do I start treatment?
You will need to book an initial consultation with the dentist to determine your treatment need see
if you are suitable for sedation. You may be asked to complete a health questionnaire. The
process will be explained to you in more detail, and if you would like to go ahead, a further
assessment appointment will be arranged.
