Cate Howard Dentist offers composite bonding treatment at Dunluce Practice.

Composite Bonding is a popular cosmetic treatment that can change the shape and size of your teeth, helping to achieve a smile you love.

Advantages of composite bonding:

Minimally invasive, quick & convenient treatment:

This usually requires little or no removal of the natural tooth structure, normally completed within one treatment session.

Natural-looking results:

Carefully colour-matched, composite resin is shaped and polished to complement your natural smile, while still seeing results at the end of treatment.

A more affordable cosmetic option:

Compared with some other cosmetic options, composite bonding is a more affordable option with results that can last 5-7 years with good oral health and care.

A smile you will be happy with:

Composite bonding is a popular procedure used to create a smile transformation. Many of our patients already know & love this treatment and have used composite bonding to create subtle changes resulting in their dream smile.

Before and after of composite bonding.

Composite Bonding Procedure

After an in-depth consultation and thorough planning, your treatment will begin.

Shade selection:

An advanced shade guide is used to accurately select a shade that best matches your teeth.

Tooth preparation:

The tooth is thoroughly cleaned and prepared.

Bonding & application:

A bonding agent is applied to help the material adhere to the tooth. The composite is then added onto the tooth in layers, gradually building the size and shape.

Curing & setting:

A dental curing light is used at various stages and after each layer of composite to harden and create a strong bond.

Finishing & polishing:

Once the tooth is sculpted and shaped to look and feel like a natural tooth, finishing touches such as polishing will be done to ensure it matches the lustre of the natural surrounding teeth.

Things to consider:

Due to the materials used, composite can be less resistant to wear and pressure than porcelain (used for crowns & bridges) and may chip under pressure. Composite can be susceptible to staining, especially from foods and drinks such as tea, coffee and red wine. This means maintenance may be required over time.

*This treatment is not suitable for and cannot treat extensive breaks, decay and severely misaligned teeth. Please discuss your interest with your clinician before booking your initial consultation to assess your suitability.

The cost:

The cost of composite bonding can vary from £150-£200 per tooth, depending on the complexity and time required. Book your initial consultation, where your desired results can be discussed and an itemised estimate of the cost will be provided.
